TRAVEL DIARIES: MEXICO CITY
I recently had the pleasure of going to Mexico City to attend my best friend’s brother’s wedding. I spent four amazing days there exploring the city and celebrating the beautiful couple.
DAY 1
I was impressed with how many peacocks we saw at the museum. It was an incredible experience.
Following our visit to the Dolores Olmedo Museum we went to the Frida Kahlo house, also known as Casa Azul. This is the former home of the artist in which she lived with her husband, Diego Rivera.
I was staying at the Four Seasons so for lunch my friends and I went back to the hotel to eat. We had a some delicious beef tacos.
NIGHT 1
For our first night in Mexico City we attended a wonderful dinner hosted by the groom’s godparents. We all had so much fun hearing the toasts, drinking wine, and enjoying the incredible food.
A little tip for people planning on going to Mexico City: Because the city is 7,200 feet above sea level alcohol tolerance decreases for people not accustomed to this high altitude.
DAY 2
On our second day in Mexico City we woke up at 5 AM to go watch the sunrise on a hot air ballon over the pyramids. This was not my first time going on a hot air ballon, but it was such a beautiful experience watching the sunrise over the pyramids.
Following our ride on the hot air ballon we drove to Ciudad Prehispánica de Teotihuacán, which is home to the most famous Mexico City pyramids. These Aztec pyramids at Teotihuacan are located 30 miles outside of Mexico City. This place is home to two famous pyramids known as the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon. I had an amazing time discovering all the history there, but I will admit that towards the end we were all tired and ready to go back to the hotel because we had partied the night before and woken up very early.
NIGHT 2
On our second night there we went to a sunset cocktail party hosted by the bride and groom. The location of this cocktail party was a restaurant called Arango. The view there was absolutely stunning and this is a place I definitely recommend visiting if you travel to Mexico City.
DAY 3
We all woke up very excited the next day as it was the day of the wedding. I was sharing the hotel room with two other friends and we all decided to order a large breakfast with Bellinis. We ate and then got ready listening to music and drinking our Bellinis.
I wore a beautiful yellow Alexander McQueen dress to the wedding and accessorized it with a Judith Leiber clutch.
