I was inspired to make this piece based on everything that is happening in Brazil at the moment. While in Rio Grande do Sul half a million people have lost their homes because of heavy rains, flooding, and mudslides, in Rio de Janeiro, Madonna held a pornographic concert for 1.6 million people, with no mention of the tragedy happening in Rio Grande do Sul. The piece is meant to portray the complete disconnect between the two worlds, which although close geographically, couldn’t be farther apart in terms of priorities, concerns, and values.
